7th grade STEM students had the opportunity to participate in the SciMatch program at Pettigrew State Park. SciMatch is a statewide program that pairs classrooms with local scientists. This collaboration gives students hands on real world experiences in a variety of science fields. The STEM students in Mrs. Jennings class were partnered with Andrew McMains, a marine biologist who studies fish populations and the impact of human encroachment. A variety of programs took place, including, fishing, learning to throw cast nets, and lessons on animal identification.
