Our amazing science teacher, Ms. Angela Jennings, attended a reception at the NC Executive Mansion. She was selected to take part in a state wide program called SciMatch. With this program, teachers are matched with scientists from their area to bring hands on science to students. We have been matched with Andrew McManis who is a scientist with the Morley Lab at East Carolina. He and Ms. Jennings are developing programs that her students will be taking part in this April. Besides educators and scientists, several elected officials including Governor Roy Cooper were in attendance.
Governor Cooper spoke about the importance of STEM education in our state. He even signed a proclamation designating March as STEM month!
